About Clara

Clara Watson is currently a fifth year student majoring in the Architectural Engineering program at The Pennsylvania State University.  She will graduate in May 2012 with an integrated Bachelor and Master Degree in Architectural Engineering (BAE/MAE) with a focus in Construction Management.  Clara also earned her Minor in Architectural Studies when she studied abroad in Rome, Italy with the Sede di Roma program offered by the Pantheon Institute.  Clara will become an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) upon graduation as a result of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam in October 2010.

Over the past four summers, Clara has had four internships with three differing construction companies.  She interned with Foreman Program and Construction Managers for two summers and the Penn State Office of Physical Plant for one summer, while this past summer she interned with Forrester Construction.  Interning with Forrester Construction provided Clara with the opportunity to work on-site on the $14M addition and renovation project to VIDA Fitness in Washington DC. Working on site afforded Clara the invaluable experience she is applying to her senior thesis project and portfolio.

Clara is also involved in many activities and organizations at school, including the Student Society of Architectural Engineers (SSAE), the Penn State Chapter of the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI), and the Student Chapter of the Partnership of Achieving Construction Excellence (S:PACE). She is also a teaching assistant for Architectural Building Materials (AE221).  For more details on work experience, leadership and extra-curricular experience, and awards and honors, please see Clara’s résumé below.
